COVID-19: New cases drop slightly in Ontario; Ottawa reports 17 cases

New cases of COVID-19 abated slightly in Ontario Saturday, with 124 cases reported.

The province reported 134 cases Friday.

Two more deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 2,777.

According to the province, Ottawa Public Health was reporting 17 new cases as of Saturday. OPH reported 26 new cases Friday.

The provincial total of confirmed cases now stands at 39,333 with 89 per cent considered resolved.

Locally, 28 of 34 public health units are reporting five or fewer cases, with 16 of them reporting no new cases, Health Minister Christine Elliott tweeted.

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit reported one new case Saturday, but there were no new cases at the other area health units.

There are currently 73 people hospitalized in Ontario with COVID-19, 27 of them in ICU and 12 of those patients are on ventilators.

The province processed more than 33,000 tests on Friday.
