Six Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) crews from around Northland descended on a house fire to battle flames of up to 20 metres.
Firefighters from Whangārei, Ruakaka and Portland rushed to Price Rd in Springfield shortly after 8pm on Friday to find a house and garage well involved with fire.
“The flames were 10 x 20 metres when crews arrived,” FENZ shift manager Daniel Nicholson said.
All occupants of the house managed to escape, and no-one was injured, he said.
As of 10pm, the flames were extinguished, but crews remained to dampen down hotspots.
Nicholson said a fire investigator had been called to the scene, but the incident had not been classified as suspicious.
